Their Story
I’m back! I know, I know — it’s been probably 35 years since I’ve written a blog post. But my resolution this year, or actually goal (I like that word better), is to write more and write about things I love. Not just to bump up my SEO. Not just to have something to post on Instagram — but things that make me happy. I’ve decided to start posting on certain days. Wednesdays will be Wedding Wednesdays where I will post about a wedding film we’ve recently released. Tuesdays will be Wedding Tip Tuesday. I absolutely love wedding planning and want to help you with planning your big days!
On to the wedding!
So how did Julie and Logan’s story begin? The two met back in 2009 when they were both on the same softball team, but they didn’t start dating until the end of summer right before their senior year of high school. When I asked the two what they love the most about each other, Julie says that she loves that he can make her laugh and also loves his sweet caring heart. Logan said he sweet and caring Julie is.
The proposal was so sweet! Julie told me that, “Logan proposed to me when we were on a family vacation together in Belize. We went to dinner and had drinks, he was very quiet on the way home. When we got back to the resort, he asked me to go for a walk along the beach. We walked down the pier and talked for a while. After 30 minutes of Logan pacing back and forth and a lot of nervous chatter (and 3 chest bumps.. yes he chest bumped me lol hes so embarrassed about it now but I find it hilarious) he finally got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him. I cried and hugged him. It was a beautiful and perfect night.”
Their Wedding Day
October 20th, 2018
Julie and Logan’s wedding day was held in Jefferson City, Missouri. Which may not be too far of a drive, but I absolutely love going to new places outside of St. Louis. We started the day at Julie’s family home where the girls got ready. It was so much fun! Julie told me before we got there that they are laid back and that was totally true. Once we arrived, it felt like going to a friend’s house to hang out. Everyone was super warm and welcoming and I couldn’t ask for anything more on a wedding day. After the champagne was popped, we headed over to the ceremony space, Immaculate Conception Church. It was a gorgeous Catholic church that had plenty of stained glass windows and, my favorite, huge doors on the outside. The photographer, Lighter Focus, came up with a brilliant idea of putting up Julie’s dress on the doors and with it blowing in the wind, it made for such a gorgeous shot!
Once we got footage of Logan putting on the final touches of his suit, we headed into the church for a first look with Julie’s father. That was something Julie told me she was looking forward to. And it was such a great first look! My favorite part was once the two say each other, Julie asked her father, “Are we going to get through this?” So sweet! Another thing we got to do, since Julie and Logan didn’t want to do a first look, was have the two of them hold hands at a door in the church. It’s been a while since we’ve had a couple that wanted to do that! It was very emotional and I just knew their first look down the aisle was going to be special.
And it was! To see Logan get so emotional was so so sweet. I always try to tell my couples, don’t worry about looking silly with your emotions on your wedding day. Because those are the moments that we love on a wedding day!
After their ceremony, it was off the city for pictures. What I love about Jefferson City, is that it is the perfect mixture of city and rural. We got some beautiful footage near the Governor’s Mansion and then headed out to this beautiful field. I loved having a mixture of both for their film. Finally, we headed off to the reception venue — West Ridge Event Center. It was perfectly decorated for Fall. They even had little jars of jam as their party favors which really tied well with the theme.
At sunset, we headed outside in the field by the event center. It was gorgeous! The sun was just at the perfect spot to create some beautiful footage. After photos, it was time to dance the night away! It was just the perfect way to end an incredible day.
