It’s honestly crazy how time flies after a wedding day. Seriously, it feels like I was just at Yessica and Jeffrey’s wedding yesterday! And now, their film is complete. Their wedding was our first of what I like to call, “wedding season” and it did not disappoint. Yessica and Jeffrey were the type of couple that made a wedding day fun and relaxed. Who could ask for more?!
With my mom in tow (she assists me on wedding days every now and then), we headed over to Hermann Hill Weddings. One of my most favorite venues in Missouri! You guys, if you’re near Hermann or St. Louis, check out this place. The Bluffs, which is one of the locations you can choose for your ceremony, has the most gorgeous backdrops.
But I am getting a little ahead of myself.
As we entered venue, the clouds didn’t look very promising, but the radar showed any rain would be gone before the ceremony. Also, it was a little cold outside which was a little unheard of by this time of year. With the clouds looming, though, that did not stop Yessica beaming from ear to ear. She greeted us in the bridal suite with her girls and they got to work on their hair and makeup. Also, I think I am getting spoiled with my vendors this year. Their photographer, Tanya Huckabaa, was amazing to work with!
The two of us got shots of the details and even came up with the idea of having Yessie walk down the hall with her dress, instead of just the typical dress shot. I loved it! And cannot wait to incorporate that in more of my films.
We even helped set up their alter for the ceremony. With the help of Jeffrey and his groomsmen, we braved through the cold and wind to get it set up. What was so cool was that Yessie and Tanya made the flowers for it! They were made out of coffee filters. How neat!
Once back inside, we had some time until the ceremony to look at the other details for the day. Their reception hall was decorated to the nines and I loved the inclusion of the peach and teal throughout. I even saw that they were having frozen margaritas at the party, and not going to lie, I was a little sad I was going to miss out!
After getting footage of Jeff reading his letter from Yessie, we made our way back to the bridal suite. It was time for the dress! And, it was stunning! After the dress, we got to meet Braxton — Yessie and Jeff’s daughter. With a head full of red hair, she was an absolute doll!
For the ceremony, the two got married at The Bluffs. It provided such a beautiful backdrop to their ceremony and, looking back at the footage from their day, it definitely didn’t look like we were in Missouri anymore.
Probably my most favorite part of the ceremony was the chair set up for Jeff’s grandfather, who had recently passed. It was a surprise from Yessie to Jeff and was such a touching moment.
With heartfelt personal vows, a champagne toast, and a romantic first kiss — they were married! The rain had held off and the sun was beaming. Which, was a little hard to work with camera wise, but perfect for their ceremony. And hey, a little overexposure for some perfect weather? I’ll take it!
We finished the day with pictures on The Bluffs and in the gazebo. Before I knew it, it was time to say goodbye. To me, that is always the hardest part. You get to know you couples, spend the day with them, and then it’s time to go.
I had a blast filming Yessie and Jeff’s day and wish them the absolute best! They were such a joy to work with, weren’t afraid to laugh, and just had fun. I’m so glad they chose me to film their wedding.
